Miles talks to us about his Apprenticeship Last week we caught up with Miles to find out about his experience as an apprentice with °µÍø½ûµØ Construction. Miles joined °µÍø½ûµØ Construction in 2016 working in our °µÍø½ûµØ department. Having completed his Engineering apprenticeship, he is now working on site at Battersea Power Station. “After finishing my university degree, I wanted a change in careers. Whilst working for °µÍø½ûµØ in the °µÍø½ûµØ department I began to learn more about the construction industry and the numerous opportunities that it holds. I liked the idea of an apprenticeship because of the “learn on the job” aspect and at the same time only spending one day at college. The course entailed ten different units, from Construction Principles to Graphical Detailing, over a two year period. I attended college one day a week from 9am to 6pm and four days on Battersea on site. It has benefited me in many ways, particularly for the career that I am pursuing. I have a better understanding of the skills I need and what is expected of me. My advice to anyone out there doing an apprenticeship is to utilise your company; ask for help and advice as this gives you a great advantage in your studies.!”
